Q. Do you use ladders?
A. Windowkleen does use ladders but only as a last means of access and whether we like it or not the law is changing on the use of ladders.New health and safety regulations deem working from ladders to be unsafe. A fact that is backed by the number of window cleaners that get killed or injured every year. Most people do not know that it is the client who will be responsible if a window cleaner falls of a ladder on their property and it comes as a nasty shock to many people each year.

Q. What water do you use?
A. Whilst we are moving away from the dangers of working at height, along with the inconvenience and intrusion it often causes we have changed to a more environmentally friendly and efficient method called Pure Water cleaning. No chemicals or detergents, just the absolute simplicity of purified water is what we use to clean your windows. Special water fed soft brushes are mounted onto telescopic poles that can reach windows over 65 ft high.
The water used is stored in a tank in the back of our vehicles and pumped through a small hose and tube up to to the brush head. When using the traditional window cleaning method we use clean water with a little neutral detergent.

Q. What is Pure Water
A. Although tap water looks clean it actually contains a lot of dissolved minerals and chemicals. These vary area to area (hard and soft areas). It is these minerals that leave a white residue on the glass. Pure water is the best product to clean windows for several reasons:

  • By virtue of the nature of the water, it does not like being pure and it strives to return to its normal state. It absorbs dirt particles from the window, helping the cleaning process.
  • Because of the aggressive strength of pure water, you do not need cleaning detergents on the windows so its better for the environment.
  • Due to the impurities being removed the glass does not have to be squeegeed only simply rinsed after brushing will leave an excellent streak-free finish.

Q. What are the benefits you offer?
A. Increases privacy as we work from the ground and unable to see above ground floor windows. Reduces your legal liabilities. Its faster than traditional window cleaning.
Completely environmentally friendly, no chemicals used. Does not scratch your window sills like ladders can. Glass will stay cleaner longer as there is no soap residue left on the window to catch the dirt. By not using ladders we will not damage any plant borders or grass. Able to clean hard to reach windows i.e above conservatories.

Q. Will I see a difference straight away?
A. Whilst you will, ultimately, see enormous benefits with pure water cleaning, this sometimes may not be immediately apparent.Traditional “chamois and ladder” cleaning often avoids the window surround and frame. Water fed pole cleaning brings down accumulated debris down onto the glass. It may take a couple of washes to remove the residue of years of detergent to give the full effect of pure water. After that you will not want to go back!

Q. I am very pleased with the end result but my previous window cleaner left my windows and sills dry when they left and now they are wet?
A. Please do not be concerned by this, it is only pure water less harmful to your building than rainwater. The water dries spotless fairly quickly so it is unnecessary to dry the window, surround and the sill.

Q. It all looks so complicated to a bucket and squeegee and I am not convinced it can do as good a job as traditional window cleaning?
A. It actually does a better job and we clean the frames, so that is an added bonus to you! The process is faster, safer, superior to traditional window cleaning, as we are using fresh pure water on each window and not “used” water out of a bucket. it is a simple water fed pole system with the water being pumped from the back of a van. A simple process made affordable. We can demonstrate the process to you on just one of your windows, if it helps to reassure you.

Q. I am worried the water pressure will damage my windows?
A. The pump is merely used to raise the water up to the top of the pole. It does not “pressure wash” your windows it is the gentle agitation of the soft brush bristles and the pure water that does the cleaning. Very little pressure is needed.

Q. How much do you charge?
A. Well that depends on the amount, size and the access-ability of the windows and doors . We are competitive and all frames, sills and doors are cleaned as standard. On contacting us we will be happy to give you an estimate but a free quotation can only be given once the job has been seen in person.

Q. I work all day how can I pay?
A. To find out how you can pay for your service, please visit our payments page.

Q. Will you come the same day every time?
A. Unless there are circumstances beyond our control, for weekly, 2, 4, 5 and 6 weekly cleans we will attend the same day. For monthly and other frequencies we will attend the same scheduled date unless otherwise requested by the client.
